Where does Plex source its ratings for TV Shows?

I know you can change your ratings source for Movie libraries: IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes or The Movie Database under each movie library settings. But I don’t see that option for TV show libraries.

Also, only star percentages, eg. ☆ 87% appear for each TV show. Where does Plex source its ratings for TV Shows?

Primarily TheMovieDB.org (and TheTVDB.com as fallback if I’m not mistaken).

Assuming you are using the new TV agent then you can pick which one to use by default via the advanced - ratings source option …

If none exists on TMDB then it will fall back to TVDB as Otto has mentioned above.

Ah okay. But I see the ratings on TheMovieDB.org is very different from those in my TV show libraries. Is that a know issue that it doesn’t sync/match, or is it just my Plex Server that may have the problem?

Also, where does one see ratings on TheTVDB.com? I can’t see it on each title’s page.

Oh! I didn’t see that one has to change the Agent for TV Shows to “Plex TV Series” to show both Ratings Source of The Movie Database and TheTVDB. Do you know if there is any plan for IMDb to be included as a rating source in the future? Would be nice to have that option as the Movie libraries have that option, and I think it’s a pretty popular movie/TV show platform many use for ratings.

Also, is the Agent “Plex TV Series” for TV shows the recommended agent now? I’ve not been keeping up with what is used these days. I know for Movie libraries, “Plex Movie” Agent is recommended.

I understand it is rather unlikely.

Yes. It is now the only tv show agent to receive bug fixes and updates.
