Why do some video recordings save with audio set to Spanish. I start to play a video and I hear someone speaking English.
After some investigation it appears that some TV Shows put the Spanish audio track first then the English audio. Plex seems to play the first audio stream by default.
Check to see if you have English set as your Account Settings page for “Audio & Subtitle Settings” section.
If you do, then most likely the issue is that your TV Recorder isn’t marking the language track properly when recording the media. This info on what track is what language must come from the guide itself, and if the guide doesn’t specify a language I bet it marks the track as “und” or Undetermined. Since Plex can’t tell which track is actually English, it defaults to the first track in the file.
I’m using Plex to record. When I play back the recorded shows some show as stereo A/C
others show as 5.1 A/C. I never had this when I was using BeyondTV to record.
I’ll have to check the account settings when I turn the system on tomorrow.
You can check your account settings anywhere.
For the media, you can use a tool like MediaInfo or MKVToolNix to check the tracks and metadata in the file itself. It should list each audio track it found in the file, and show what language each track is flagged as. If they are flagged with the correct language, and Plex still played the first one only despite your account settings preference, then we can investigate from there.
For now, I have a feeling that whatever your recorder is must have marked an incorrect flag, or the guide data had listed the wrong language for each track.
