Spdif

Hello
I’m having some issues with OpenPHT that I hope you can help me with.
I have an HTPC that was running W10 32-bit. Updated it to w10 64-bit and installed Open PHT. All of a sudden I cannot control the audio with my remote to the computer, no matter what settings I try, both in OpenPHT and Windows. Another weird thing is that OpenPHT has got the mute ikon in the right corner the whole time, even though I have sound. I didn’t have this issue running 32-bit.
I can control the audio with the Logitech remote, but I don’t want that.
I tried to install PMP and it worked straight away.
All drivers are up to date, and so is windows.
What could be wrong?

My setup:
Gigabyte GB-BXi5H-4200.
W10 64-bit.
Logitech Z5500, connected via optical spdif.
Thank you very much for any advice

have you set it as the default sound device in windows?

which audio output device is set it openpht?

Thank you very much for all your help Daniel, all the time
Yes, I have Spdif set as the default in windows. In OpenPHT I have tried all audio output devices and all possible settings with passthrough and different formats

in openpht
play a video
then press the + on the keyboard to increase the volume ( - will decrease it then go to mute at the end of the scale)

see if that gets rid of the mute icon and turn it to full volume, then retry the audio output devices if its not working

Ill give it a go tomorrow.
Does it have to be the keyboard or is the remote sufficient?

i would have thought you would have tried the remote many times already and it still shows muted?

use the keyboard + (actually its = key) . (the remote may not be set correctly to increase and decrease the openpht volume)
via a physcial keyboard or teamviewer/vnc etc

Hmmm, might be on to something here…
In OpenPHT nothing happens wile using the keyboard regarding the mute ikon up in the right corner nor with the volume.
But in windows i can se down in the right corner that spdif (the speaker symbol) goes up and down with both remote and keyboard

Why arent OpenPHT working?
And how come PMP does…?

Novalucol - i sent you a message a couple days ago about this issue let me know if you still need help

Unfortunately I still haven’t figured this one out.
There seem to be two different volumes.
One that is windows, which I can control via the remote. I see it down in the right corner of w10, called SPDIF that I have set as default. Unfortunately it doesn’t work in OpenPHT. If I use my keyboards volume buttons it is the same, unless I use the + or – in which case a completely different icon comes up within OpenPHT. The strange thing, that same icon indicates mute all the time, even though audio comes out.

I am about to boot OpenPHT and just go for the PMP soon, which works straight away.
But that’s a shame, because I’d choose OpenPHT any day if it wasn’t for this issue

i think we could figure this out together via teamviewer like i suggested last week, if you change your mind let me know

@Novalucol Why not take @daniel.cull up on his offer? It’s not everyday an OpenPHT team member offers to help tweak your setup for you directly.
