My PMS won’t show metadata for specials for some reason.
The good news:
Plex has scanned and cataloged the file just fine.
The bad news… something gave your Plex the hiccups while trying to lookup the data from TheTVDb.com. It seems Plex couldn’t connect to plex.tv (URL couldn’t be resolved).
- This might have been some temporary hiccup – what happens if you click refresh metadata for that episode?
- If that fails… can you reboot the PMS if that resolves the issue (if it doesn’t… try restarting the machine Plex is running on and your Orbi).
- If all fails… what DNS have you set in your home network?
Edit:
I just figured I looked at some wrong logs – the above is still true. It just seems this network issue has been happening for some time (at least as far as the logs reach… which is only until yesterday)
Thanks for taking the time to look into the issue.
Indeed I’m facing DNS issues since the past couple of days. I use my own resolver in an Azure instance with Pihole… switched to Google’s Public DNS or Cloudflare… all exhibit the same issue where lookups fail intermittently
And due to the lockdown, ISP customer support isn’t picking up phones either.
I’ve changed the DNS manually to OpenDNS inside resolv.conf.
Is the DNS issue still present?
yes.
check out the Plex Media Server.log file and search for lines with ERROR - and WARN - . The log is still reporting lines with Could not resolve host: plex.tv)
