Specific show not adding properly

Server Version#: 1.16.5.1554
Player Version#:
I downloaded an old Cartoon TV show called Shadow Raiders. It has 2 seasons of 13 episodes. Both The Movie DB and TVDB show this. I have tested each fire and it plays fine from start to finish with out hickups. But when I add it to my server it only ever pulls the same 8 episodes, 4 from each season.

I’ve tried a few things, I even used handbrake to change then from .mov to mp4, still doesn’t even seem see them as episodes. In the logs I do see that it sees the files but for some reason doesn’t add it.

Hoping to get some possible fixes I haven’t tried, or someone knows more specifically what is happening.

To pick the low hanging fruit first, have you ensured your media follows the guidelines outlined here:

https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/

Can you provide an example/screenshot of what your file paths are and the file names you’re using?

It picks up those 8 episodes perfectly, it names them gets all the meta data and everything.
Cartoon TV Shows/Shadow Raiders/ Season 1/ Episode 1 - Behold the Beast.mov

So no, your naming does not follow the guidelines. Per the document I linked, it should be:

Cartoon TV Shows\Shadow Raiders\Season 01\Shadow Raiders - S01E01 - Behold the Beast.mov

Naming is very important to PMS. Also, ensure your library points to the top-level folder, in this case “Cartoon TV Shows.”

It makes no difference, thanks for the input though.

Once you have naming fully corrected, you may want try the procedure outlined below to ensure PMS fully re-scans/analyzes the new structure:

It doesn’t make a difference, thanks for the input though. There are many ways I can force things to show up, I did that with Kdramas for a friend that are from the 90’s Since I don’t have an agent for them. I have changed all the eps names still only shows the same 8, fixed match, refresh data, to try and reset it.

Are you actually referring to War Planets: Shadow Raiders?
https://www.thetvdb.com/series/war-planets-shadow-raiders

If so, your folders/file names should include the War Planets part. Something like:
Cartoon TV Shows\War Planets Shadow Raiders\Season 01\War Planets Shadow Raiders - S01E01 - Behold the Beast.mov

Oh that is the folder name, sorry I had a separate test folder. The main one is now Cartoon TV Shows/Shadow Raiders - Warplanets/ect I matched it to the tvdb listing.

If you don’t use the “show name - S01E01 - episode title.ext” naming format, then you’ll always experience lackluster results. Plex tries to pull the reference lookup from the file name first.

It is possible to experience some success without following the naming guidelines, until you don’t. It can also fail… so you can’t say that it makes no difference. It absolutely does when it doesn’t work.

It’s like you’re saying that 60% of the time, it works every time. I assure you, if you name your files and folders correctly, it will work.

There’s a program out there called FileBot, which will help you rename files in groups (like whole season folders). That rocks for doing it quickly.

The great news with that, is that it pulls directly from the TVDB, as Plex does… so when you have a match in FileBot, you can place solid wagers that Plex will pick it up the same way.
