Specific TV Show wont populate in PLEX

I have VM Windows 2019 Server that houses Movies and TV Shows. I downloaded “The Night Of” via Torrent from my usual Torrent site and cannot get this show to populate in my PLEX Server (nVidia Shield Pro).
I can view the TV episodes directly on a computer, .MKV files like most of my other TV Shows, but this one in particular, NOTHING. No Shield, No Web Browser, nothing at all. Anyone had any troubles with this show on Plex? Any fixes?
I have Scanned all files and Refreshed Metadata multiple times, rebooted the VM and still nothing…

How are the files named?

99 time out of 100 a problem like you describe is something in the naming or structure. This is one format that works well:

A basic format is:

TV Shows <— The library points here
---------TV Show Name (Year first aired if needed) <— This folder holds the season folders
------------------Season 01 <— This folder holds all the episodes for season 01
-------------------------ShowName - s01e01 - Episode Name.ext
-------------------------ShowName - s01e02 - Episode Name.ext
-------------------------And so on for the rest of season 01
------------------Season 02 <— This folder holds all the episodes for season 02
-------------------------ShowName - s02e01 - Episode Name.ext
-------------------------ShowName - s02e02 - Episode Name.ext
-------------------------And so on for the rest of season 02
------------------Season 03 <— This folder holds all the episodes for season 03
-------------------------ShowName - s03e01 - Episode Name.ext
-------------------------ShowName - s03e02 - Episode Name.ext
-------------------------And so on for the rest of season 03
This repeats for each show and you can have more than one “TV Shows” directory but the library needs to point at each of them.

Note: The year after the show name is only normally needed or desired if there is more that one show with exactly the same name. Check http://thetvdb.com/ if you are not sure and match exactly the name used there.

There are naming methods other than the above that work but this does work 99.9% of the time.
If you are going to use Plex it is best to use the proper naming conventions so Plex makes the best match possible. Trying to force Plex to use other naming methods is just asking for frustration.

Elijah I have laid out my directories almost exactly what you set as example. See attachment:

I wonder if its in the naming of the file. Not sure what DEPTH means and frankly dont know what MOST of the items in a file name mean. For what its worth, this show only had one season.

Ok so I am chalking this up to a bad recording… I said it worked fine on my PCs browser but I didnt have volume up (was at work). Now I just tested again and there is no volume… so I am deleting the series and downloading another option. Will update when complete.

You have your files names wrong as mentioned. Don’t use Part 1 etc for episode numbers. use the S01E01 notation

The episodes should be

The Night Of S01E01 whatever other info you want.mkv.

That is actually missing a part that I think is important. That is you left off the season folder. While I think single season shows no longer “need” a season folder I have found that it is best practice to always have season folders.
I think you might get it to work correctly with this structure and naming putting “SxxEyy” in place of the “Part#”

TV Shows
____The Night Of
________Season 01
____________The Night Of - s01e01.mkv
____________The Night Of - s01E02.mkv
____________and so on

Also you should drop all those extraneous periods. Spaces work fine and sometimes the extra periods can cause problems.

Ok Big… I just left the names as I DLed them. I will change and see if that helps.

Elijah, usually single season shows I leave as is… Yellowjackets is like this and works fine… dumb show… but works fine.

Found a different source of the season… DLed it… refreshed and there we go…
All 8 shows are popping now on the web interface which means Im sure Shield will show when I get home.

It works until it no longer works

As others have said your files are poorly named for plex so you have just been lucky until now. I have this show with my media named as follows and plex finds it perfectly …

I really think it was a bad recording… I renamed the file as Big, Elijah and Dokuro suggested, created a new folder, refreshed all Meta and its still not populating… still no sound in web browser.
