Specifically named directory when scanned not picking up files

I have a folder that has a lot of music under it, the folder names show up, but none of the mp3s. The folder is named “depeche_mode”. I renamed it to dmode, triggered a rescan and everything showed up, great! Renaming back to depeche_mode and doing another rescan and they are gone again.

How can I go about troubleshooting this? Is it a max directory length kind of thing? It only goes maybe 1 or 2 deep from the top.

Not sure why dmode works but if you’re going to use Artist Name, the correct way would be: Depeche Mode (no underscore).

I try to avoid spaces in directory names due to issues I’ve had in the past (probably so long ago not an issue, but old habits die hard). I have thousands of other similarly named directories and they are populated.

Just odd that renaming it to dmode everything shows up, but then back to depeche_mode they all disappear.

Is there a way to trigger a rescan on a specific directory? And what log file would I check for watching this scan progress?

Replying to myself in the event anyone else sees this. The issue was I had a symlink in another spot to this directory and that directory was populated OK. It seems that when browsing by folder this happens.

It’s odd that the symlinked directory shows up OK, but may be due to scanning order. I imagine Plex de-dups, so the files in the other directory do not show up.
