New scanner not picking up new items

Server Version#: Version 1.40.5.8897
Player Version#: Version 4.133.0
Mac Pro Server (Intel)

Since the recent announcement that legacy scanners will be dropped, I’ve tried switching back to the new scanner. I’m still getting the same error as I was last time when triggering a scan (and no new items are being picked up). Post from 2 years ago

Here is the relevant logs out of Plex Media Server.log
Here is the attached log.

I’m adding the relevant error line so it’s searchable in the future

I narrowed it down to this folder name
The Vow (2012) - 65388049634245462The.Vow.iso. there exists one file in this folder with The Vow (2012).mp4

I created a new Movie library that contains ONLY the folder above. The scanner will not pick up this folder and simple crashes w/ the same error message above.

If I rename the folder to The Vow (2012) and force a re-scan, the scanner completes.

Hope this helps debug.

There is nothing to debug here.
If you include arbitrary stuff in your folder names, it can confuse Plex.
Hence why there are naming guidelines to prevent that.

Try it this way:
Instead of
The Vow (2012) - 65388049634245462The.Vow.iso.
use
The Vow (2012) [65388049634245462The.Vow.iso.]
as folder name.

I disagree. This is a bug in the scanner.

This folder caused the scanner not to add ANY new files from the directory when present.

The scanner would crash and the scanner wouldn’t pick up any new files. At the very least the poorly named folder should be ignored.

Yes, I agree. First time I’ve ever seen this, thank you for tracking down the exact path - I’ll add this to our unit tests and see what’s causing it.

No problem. Thanks for making plex! Must be a gnarly regex. gl
