Spectrum internet and Plex players

Greetings all, I’ve got remote access working just fine and all types players work from outside my local network. Except if I connect to a friend’s WiFi from Spectrum. I can’t get any connection. Let me give an example.

I connect my laptop to my cell phone hotspot and try to connect to my Plex server, it works just fine. I disconnect my hotspot and connect to my friends WiFi with the same laptop, the player can no longer connect. (I tagged plex-web, but none of the players work).

Any ideas? Thanks

Tell your friend to set a different DNS server for her/his network. and not to use the default DNS provided by Spectrum. If they allow it in their router settings, that is.

Or manually configure the DNS server in the properties of your WiFi adapter. Use either Google’s (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare’s (1.1.1.1)
(you might wanna reset it to Automatic once you’re done at your friend’s)
