Speed Up Library Scanning

Hello,

Anyone know of any tweaks to speed up library scanning?

NVME storage for server, connected to NAS, 1 gig links.

I get that NAS would theoretically be the bottleneck but 10-15 minutes to iterate through 2600 movies seems a bit long, considering it is just checking for deltas.

Whatever, just thought it’d be worth peaking at.

Wow, my raspberry pi 3 takes 3 - 5 minutes to scan 2000 and I thought that was slow given that the scan is just to pick up new movies on the nfs mount.

Yeah, mind you it’s a cifs mount, which I’m sure makes it happy, but even then :-/

10-15 minutes to slug through 2600 movies, matching and pulling all metadata to completion

Scan the library for changes only?

Changes only.

Would you do the following please so I can follow along?

  1. Verify DEBUG logging on, VERBOSE off
  2. Start a scan
  3. run for a minute or two
  4. Stop it
  5. Download Logs
  6. Attach the ZIP

Also please let me know:

  1. CIFS mount level (1,2, 3?)
  2. Network speed? Wired or Wifi ?

Disregard this one. I just blew away the server and rebuilt it.

Must have been something stupid in there because it’s running much better now. Sorry to bother.
