Hello. I have just started evaluating various options for cutting the cord.
I have at least settled on a Plex setup with an HDHR Quad.
I have narrowed down my DVR choice to Plex DVR or Channels. There are lots of things that I like about Plex DVR that make me want to choose it. However, there is one huge criteria that I’m having trouble with. The issue is: Watching a DVR recording before a program is over.
This is all related to sports, particularly football. My typical pattern is: I will schedule a DVR of a game, let it run for 60-90 minutes, then start watching it. This allows me to skip through commercials, but at the same time I don’t have to wait until the end of the game to start watching.
I know that Channels advertises this as a feature (watch recording in progress), and I think that this is a feature of Plex on Android. My setup is a Win10 server and AppleTVs for viewing.
I know that Plex DVR doesn’t support this right now for Apple, but are there any workarounds for this? I started playing with a server restart at halftime … and that seemed to have some possibilities but not sure how reliable that could be.
I wish that there were options to say “record this for max of 90 minutes” or “record until negative 90 minutes of the end”, but that doesn’t seem to be available.
Does anyone have any ideas for me to try to be able to split up a single TV show?
