Splitting mkv file that contains multiple tv episodes

I have ripped a tv series using Makemkv.  Unfortunately the dvds had multiple episodes in one file. 

I tried naming the file as a multiple episode file as the wiki naming guide tells us to but it still plays as one large file containing 6 episodes.

 

Can someone direct me to how to split these into individual files?

This is all new to me.  I downloaded the mkvtoolnix.  I know have a mkvmerge GUI icon on my desktop.

I have looked at the directions you linked to.  I'm a bit overwhelmed.

Each of the files that I have contain 6 tv episodes.  The only chapter breaks in the file are at the beginning of each episode.  Is there a way to make mkvtoolnix automatically split them at the chapter break?  If not how do I tell it where to split at?

not sure, but you can just get the time at each mark and split by time - just make a copy of the file and play around with it until you get the hang of it - but its pretty much, enter times, hit go.

Ok...I figured it out and it will do it by the chapter!  Hooray!
