Splitting up already organized series into Chinese soaps

Just setup a server but for some reason it’s separating already organized shows into completely different series that I’ve never had or heard of

How exactly are your files named/organized? There are no guarantees that Plex will do the right thing if you aren’t following their naming guidelines (top-level show folder, season folders, and sXXeYY episode notation - Naming and Organizing Your TV Show Files | Plex Support). If your shows do follow that format, you can also add the tvdb/tmdb id to the show folder name (“ShowName (2020) {tvdb-123456}”), or try fixing the match.

I’ll double check, there might be a few that wasn’t organized like that. But for the most part I have everything sorted into the series, and from that sorted into individual folders per season. But I didn’t change some of the names on the episodes, so that might be throwing it outta wack

Going to bet you probably have the wrong folder added to plex. Are you adding each show to your library or are you adding the directory that holds the show folders?

I just added the whole hard drive when making the library, and let it sort its self out. I’ll probably try adding each folder next to see if that loads better. Changing the name didn’t really help, only gained 3 more episodes. Went from 66 to 69 out of a 139 episode series

Don’t add each show folder, only add the folder(s) that hold each of your show folders. E.g. if you have

D:\TV\
  Show1 (year)\
    Season 01\
      ...
  Show2 (year)\
  Show3 (year)\

You should only add D:\TV. Don’t just use D:, and don’t individually add D:\TV\Show1, Show2, etc.

That’s a big mistake, particularly with tv shows.

Additionally to what has been already said above by @DTR
this case is also bad and should be avoided:

D:\TV\
   \watched\
      Show1 (year)\
        Season 01\
        ...
   \in progress\
      Show2 (year)\
      Show3 (year)\

In this case, you cannot add simply D: to your plex library.
You also cannot add D:\TV either.
Instead, you will have to add D:\TV\watched and D:\TV\in progress indivdually.
(you can add more than one storage location to a Plex library)
