Sports organization

Hi, so think I need help in my sports organization for the games I record and want to save. I’ve searched, but never found a definitive solution and wonder what you guys are doing now. Are we any closer to getting an official SportsDB added as an option? We need it now with Plex DVR! So right now my organization looks like this:

Category: Sports --> College Football --> Team --> Season --> Team Football.S2016E14.tvrip.mp4

Ideally for my setup that I’d like when you click into sports, you get an option for the different Sports you have listed. Major League Baseball, National Football League, College Football, etc. Then you click down and have the team for the games you have. Then you click into the team, then have the seasons for the games you have. So You have Season 15/16, Season 19/20, etc. Would it be better for full years for games before the 2000’s? Then after you click down into the season you have, the games (episodes, with proper descriptions) that you have.

Right now it doesn’t work like that. TV provided the wrong result, so switched from that. Ended up using personal media source which almost gets me there but missing one step besides the SportsDB. It doesn’t give me the Team option when you click in College Football. Plus I’d have to enter in all the metadata, doable but a pain.

Sorry for the long rant, but wanted to explain my full want list here. How are you guys organizing your sporting events? Curious to find what works for you.

I think you can get most of the way there by using a library of type Other Videos, and using Folder view on whatever client(s) you are using. Libraries of type Other Videos don’t try to match against online databases and will use local media assets and metadata when available. Folder view on the client allows you to drill down through your folder structure as you describe. This is how many folks manage their home video libraries.

So tried it doing it that way and looks like it didn’t give me the folder structure I was looking for. Doing it with the TV Shows library type almost got me there, but didn’t give me the team folder. Plus, with no SportsDB I’d have to enter in the info manually. Any of you guys have a system (along these lines) of what I’m looking for? Really hope Plex would add a SportsDB.
