Might be a Windows Server specific issue, afaik there is no need to open ports for LMS. For PMS you should open a port (32400?) in your router in order to get access to PMS from outside and make it work properly (sync, etc).
I guess Windows Server is special / complex as it comes with additional firewall, etc. So naturally you need to open these ports for communication even in your own LAN.
To me personally, Windows Server is too complicated compared to common solutions unless your a pro. To me, running LMS and PMS on a NAS is ideal. Easy install and available 24/7
LMS also runs great on a Pi.
I would love to just have one media server running.Ā
SqueezeServer support would be great then I could shut this down freeing up resources for Plex :)
I just discovered today that my plexmediaserver shows up under mymusic of the squeezeboxserver. My guess is that if I enable DLNA on the plex, and also have the DLNA media interface plugin enabled on the squeezebox, then it couples the two. Interestingly, I was having a problem getting some of my mp3s to play remotely through plex, whereas, the squeezebox is no problem.
Also owner of some squeezeboxes, it could be great to integrate it into plex system.
A squeezebox has upnp capabilities, and tests with android app bubbleupnp works pretty well with local smartphone data and music provider (play music, spotify)
So i think the best way to integrate squeezeboxes into plex is to have a upnp connector in plex that allow plex to cast stream using upnp protocol.
It would be neat to have that support
Definitely interested in this capability. Iām running both PLEX and LMS on the same machine (MacMini) and while they both work fine, it would be great to have a single server running instead of two! So Squeezebox integration would be great.
