SRT subtitles cannot be formatted when audio is transcoded

I have a problem with SRT subtitles on my Philips TV (Android TV v11). Usually, formatting styles can be applied to SRT subtitles (size, color, shadow, etc.). However, whenever audio is being transcoded, subtitle formatting does not work and subtitles are shown in default formatting, which makes them too small to watch.

This is a problem because most of the videos I watch have AAC or Dolby TrueHD audio encoding. Since my receiver only accepts AC3 and DTS, audio is always transcoded. I have the latest Plex player installed.

I only found this problem on Android TV. The Windows Plex player is working fine. Plex Media server is version 1.30.2.6563.

Same problem on Chromecast with Google TV (Android 12, July 2022), Plex Android 9.15.0.38159: subtitle styling works perfectly for the same file when I choose supported audio track and it’s broken when I choose audio track that needs transcoding. I agree I have seen that error for quite a while on multiple versions of Android app (also on MiBox).

[EDIT:] It’s broken for both external and embedded in MKV SRT subtitles whenever audio is transcoded.
