Server Version (but it’s irrelevant) #:4.87.2
Firstly, please forgive me for my English, it is not my native language. Thanks
Hi, ever since version 9.7.0.34811 there is an issue with subtitles sizing in some video files.
It took me a while to understand what’s the common thing with all the titles that has that issue, and I’ve realized it’s when the video is on Copy in the playback info. That happens usually when the Audio is being transcoded. See image below:
So the issue is, that if the video is Copy the subtitles are extremely small without any option to enlarge them. No matter what the size setting are, they will remain the same small size. See images below:
This bug occurs on every Android device I used - both streamers (Mi Box) and my phones (Pixel 5 & 6).
The last version of Plex player which did not had this issue is 9.6.3.34515.
Ever since version 9.7.0.34811 this issue exists.
See images below for version 9.6.3.34515 of how it should work:
Important mention: this issue only occurs when the subtitles are not burnt.
If I choose to burn the subtitles via the player setting - the issue does not occur.
But I don’t want to burn the subtitles, to prevent my server from redundant transcoding.
(Also, obviously, the issue does not occur when the video is not being Copy but on Direct Play)
Please look into this issue. I hope you’ll be able to revert this bug.
Thanks a million
Roy
Having the exact same problem!
Any file that does audio transcoding (in my case it was AC3), the subtitle size is ignored and they are tiny
Can this please be fixed?
Or will plex pay me for new glasses?
I can only say I’d have to get my hands on a sample of this to try it out. Now that ASS subtitle rendering is native I actually have increased the size on my subtitle settings (because I now can expect the size change to only be applied to SRT subs, like I want). The subtitle size settings work fine for me on FireStick 4K and NVidia Shield both.
Thanks @RoeyB for reporting , too bad there hasn’t been a reaction from Plex after they broke this.
I’ve been experiencing it as well and it’s extremely annoying.
Glad that there’s at least a way to go back to a working apk.
It’s happening to me every single time with sidecar SRT files on Direct Stream (when video is copied, but audio is transcoded), but not on Direct Play.
