Which version of iOS are you using? Does it have all the updates?
iOS 15.0.2 should be what you have installed.
If you do not, what is the Model Number as shown in Settings → About
@ChuckPa
So yes. It’s intermittent. Most likely not the certificate like you stated because other connections like pc are fine.
I added the log files. Hope you can see this time. I do see where there’s some failed to connect errors near the top but unsure what they mean. Can you tell what the issue is or is it just flakiness on the roku’s part?
Thanks!

Definitely showing signs of network connection loss here.
It went from having 35 active data consumers (35 streaming playbacks ??) to 20 to none.

@ChuckPa Thanks for checking the logs. I know it’s affecting two different rokus at different locations and sometimes one firestick. Is it something that looks to be on the server side? Or something to check/modify on the server ? As mentioned there’s no issues at all with pc remote connections or with phones we tested. Didn’t have this issue until the beginning of the month.
Thanks!
If the problem is intermittent, the server isn’t the issue.
If it were the server, those devices and others would all see the problem.
When is the last time the Rokus and Firesticks had their firmware updated?
“Started October 1st” type errors are too convenient and tells us something needs updating. With the PCs and phones working , we know the server is OK; leaving those other devices as points to focus on.
ok. Thanks @ChuckPa
I could have sworn they checked the firmware on the rokus and they were all updated. We can check again. Good to know it’s not the server. I was just curious if there was a setting or something that may help. I have unsecure connections set as preferred.
Having Secure connections set as Preferred means that when the player reaches to your server (which is the last stage of the connection brokering process) it will do whatever is needed.
The players must all talk to Plex.tv (which is HTTPS only) to find out the information about your server (connection brokering process - step 1)
@ChuckPa
Gotcha.
I guess there’s really not much more troubleshooting we can do for those devices other than make sure the firmware is up to date. They access the actual plex app and its streaming channels fine.
Maybe they just need to be updated to newer devices. Odd how they work one moment and then the next they won’t.
There are a lot of devices which “fell off the wagon” as of Sept 30.
Apple, Android, and a whole lot more.
Anything which hasn’t been updated in over 6 months (so it gets the new R3 certificate) is going to fall off.
There are a whole bunch of newer Samsungs and LGs which are now “obsolete” from the HTTPS perspective.
You can set them up in your home as HTTP, or setup a IPSec tunnel so they can run HTTP to you, but if you want secure – the makers have forced “buy new”.
I have iOS 9.3.5 but i can’t upgrade.
I have the 6.7.2 version of the app plex.
I can’t use Plex App any more? I have pay this app…
If you’re trying to use iOS 9? That’s the problem.
The minimum supported version of iOS is 12.4
The current version of the app is 7.24.1
In Apple terms, that’s 6 iOS versions ago.
It’s no wonder you are having difficulties. Apple hasn’t updated that iOS in years.
You need a new device. I am sorry.
Check with Apple but I do believe you can transfer apps from older devices to newer devices (which do get support updates)
Hello guys, i have the same problem since few days ago for my second AppleTV.
CERT: incomplete TLS handshake: stream truncated
Last updtade for this device, same for the server.
Plex work with any issue for my first AppleTV, my iPhone or with LGwebOS. Only my room AppleTV dosnt want to connect.
Can you please check my certificate?
Thank you so much
Your certificate is current.

What version tvOS is installed on the ATV? Can you update it?
PS: While in your account, I cleaned out the other 7 dead server entries
Looks like perhaps I’ve run into the same issue here. Trying to run Plex on my Synology and I’m getting SSL errors. When connecting from app.plex.tv I see:
Oct 26, 2021 08:15:31.093 [0x7f0858a2c700] Debug — CERT: incomplete TLS handshake: sslv3 alert certificate unknown
And when trying to connect from the iOS app locally I get:
Oct 26, 2021 08:30:11.437 [0x7f0858a2c700] Debug — CERT: incomplete TLS handshake: stream truncated
Oct 26, 2021 08:30:11.791 [0x7f0858d1b700] Warning — [CERT] TLS connection came in with unrecognized plex.direct SNI name '192-168-1-209.8f0355f3abe64c1dadbd770763a0d45e.plex.direct'; using installed plex.direct cert
Your certificate was updated and is current.

have you restarted Plex since yesterday? (so it can get that new certificate)
Yeah, multiple times. Just did it again but still not working. Perhaps it’s a different issue after all. I have a UniFi Dream Machine as my home router, perhaps it’s a DNS rebinding issue? If I disable secure connections, it works.
That does sound like it. I’m not familiar enough with the UDM to know better - sorry.
Does it allow you to specify DNS rebinding exception rules?
On pfSense, I can choose to allow private domain: *.plex.direct to keep DNS rebinding protection enabled but allow plex.direct to overlay the LAN.
Your log files (captured 2 minutes after PMS restart) will tell us a lot about what’s happening.
EDIT: Is this of any help?
Hi - Can I have my certificate reset as well please? I Believe this is the cause for my issues connecting remotely. Local working fine and issues only started 30th Sept
Many Thanks!
