Server Version#: 1.20.2.3402
Player Version#: 4.44.1
after the last update secure connection stopped working. I updated my router firmware, uninstalled and reinstalled plex server and even had plex use UPNP to get the ip’s to open for local and remote. I can get remote working but not secure. if I turn on secure remote access disables. I have never had this issue in years of using Plex Server so would like some help in figuring this out if possible.
Same problem. Cannot connect at all. It keeps giving the option to connect insecurely locally, but after I do, it still says it cannot connect.
I had that issue as well but updated my wifi router firmware, deleted the instance of plex server under UPNP in the router, uninstalled and reinstalled plex server and had it look for the ip automatically using UPNP and then I was able to have remote access but not securely.
- I reset your certificate
- I removed the other 3 servers which were “stale” (not seen in a year)
- you may restart the server now
Certificate reset
OK to start the server
Mine is still broken.
The server “Plex Media Server” is unreachable. Make sure it’s running, double check your network, and try again."
that seems to have done the trick Chuck thank you for the help sir.
- Stop the server
- Go to https://app.plex.tv
- Sign out of your Plex/web account
- In 5 minutes I will reset it and post.
- Sign into the forums
- When you see the “All Clear”, you can start it again.
- If that fails, please manually gather the logs (tar.gz or ZIP)
Okay. I won’t be able to do that until later this evening, as I had to take my kids to karate and gymnastics. I’ll follow this as soon as we’re home, and post results.
It’s ready to go when you are
Okay. Sorry for the delay. Server stopped, and logged out.
It’s ready to restart. – has been.
I’m having the same problem. Can’t connect securely since last update
Same here, not working even when i restart the server and log out multiple times
Same here, so I would like to ask if you already have some solution or if you at least working on it somehow?
thank you for your reply
May we ask:
- Restart the server
- wait 2 minutes
- Download the server logs
- Attach the ZIP file.
We are working on it. I spent the last 4 hours on it with team members.

I think I’m having the same issue. For me it’s a bit strange because the plex desktop client on Windows seems to be working fine. Or at least it doesn’t appear to be giving me any secure connection errors. However, the web client seems to be insecure for all users. I’ve tested a number of different things to fix this issue:
-
Double checked router settings. The router uses nat but I have a fixed internal IP and the main port forwarded. The server is accessible remotely, but it’s insecure in the web client. The windows desktop client and android mobile client seem to work fine.
-
I reset the router and server.
-
I logged out of the server, using settings / general / sign out. Then signed back in.
-
I added plex.direct to the DNS Rebind Protection (found as a suggestion in another thread).
So far nothing has helped. I very recently migrated the plex install from another computer. I thought it might be related to the move but timing-wise it could be do to the update issue everyone else seems to have. The server is running windows 10 pro with the latest updates.
I’ve attached the logs:
