I’m in the process of putting all of my Star Trek shows into Plex in mp4 format, and having great difficulty trying to get it to categorize properly. It doesn’t seem to want to differentiate between “Star Trek Discovery”, “Star Trek”, “Star Trek Voyager” etc - even when I chance files names to ST or just Discovery for example - it keeps piling them together and seems to look only at the S01E01 part of the file name.
You’ll see in the pictures it’s muddled TOS S1 and DSC S1 - has the thumbnails of TOS and the episode names of DSC - it’s all messed up.
Has anyone got any tips on how to get this to split by Show and Season properly?
Well the first thing I see is your naming is wrong it should be:
“Star Trek Discovery - s01e01 - The Vulcan Hello.mp4”
Use the whole name just as it appears in The TVDB and leave out any illegal characters.
Your naming of the “Star Trek” series itself is fine.
Also Plex prefers that the season’s directory be two digits like:
Season 01
Once you correct the naming be sure you “Plex Dance” all of both shows at the same time.
I’m not sure what I’m looking at, so I’ll show you how it should be:

TV Show Library Folder\ <---TV Show Library aimed here - only here.
.......Star Trek Discovery\
...........Season 02\
...............Star Trek Discovery - S02E01 - Brother.mkv
Something about yours looks - odd.
Like the bit about it being in a Folder Called Movies - that really looks odd.
I hope your TV Show Library folder isn’t in a Movie Library - that might cause a fire.
