Starting to use the free trial of LiveTV

I’d like to try out the LiveTV feature. I have an existing plex server and an HDHomeRun device which works through thier app. When navigating to the Live TV & DVR part of the server “Manage” it only says I need to have a Plex Pass. How can I get to try out the recently announced free viewing?

Server Version#: 1.18.9.2571
Player Version#: 1.6.3.1009-57cf57c8
Tuner Make/Model: HDHomeRun CONNECT QUATRO (HDHR5-4US)

Do you get the same error when setting up live-tv through Plex Web (e.g. app.plex.tv/desktop)? (assuming you tried to do the setup through Plex for Windows/Mac)

You can ignore that part of the UI for now, and continue setting it up. We’ll polish that up in a future release, but didn’t want to block getting this out on the UI.

The only button in the interface is the “Get a Plex Pass” button. There doesn’t seem to be a way to just set it up anyway.

Is that the app from app.plex.tv, or the one from localhost? You need to use the one from localhost for now

I tried both the web app and the Windows app. Both have the same. How to I access the one on localhost. My plex server is a headless linux server in my basement. I don’t think I know the right port to access. I assume it is something like http://192.168.0.XXX:<port>. Is it something like that?

They’re a slightly different version than what comes on 1.18.9, you can reach it by using a URL such as http://127.0.0.1:32400/web (but obviously change the IP address to your own).

That gets me farther. Thanks very much.

No worries! :plexheart:
