The same thing here...
Happens all the time.
same here or similar anyway, starting a new movie sometimes starts at the time the last movie ended (i assume i havnt actually checked the timings but its very near the end of the new movie. annoying! Glad you are aware and looking into it at least :)
I posted here months ago about videos starting later in their timeline but wanted to report that the issue resolved for me somehow within a few weeks after I posted and I havent had the issue happen since. No idea why it started working correctly again.
Hate to +1 on this but seeing this on every other movie and tv show I watch. EXTREMELY annoying bug. Only happens on Xbox One all.
This is really, really annoying.
Have noticed it seems to start on 30 minutes when it does do it.
Do you need more logs on this?
Do you need more logs on this?
Certainly couldn't hurt if you have logs that show it happening. I don't think anyone here has actually posted any logs. It happens to me so rarely that I never have a chance to grab the logs or I'm not home.
Fairly confident this only happens with Movies. I haven't seen this in a couple months but I haven't watched a movie for a couple months. All I watch is TV shows. So maybe that helps.
Happens all the time for me with TV shows.
What OS are you using? What build of PMS? Perhaps we can isolate an OS issue. Are your files saved on a local share or on a NAS?
Windows 7 64 bit, latest Plexpass server version, all files saved on local drives not NAS.
Just happened to me again with the movie 21 Jump Street.

Some interesting messages in there; could you send me a sample file that reproduces the issue?
Enclosed please find a 2 min sample of the movie.

But I cannot really say if you can reproduce the issue with this sample as the problem only happens occasionally.
In this case
1) I added the movie ~2 hours before I started it to the library
2) I started it via the recently added movies tile in the xbox plex app
3) I was immediately in the "middle" of the movie. When pressing the 'A' button on the controller it showed ~ 1:36:00/0:00 => So also the 0:00 is not correct, it should show the movie length.
4) I stopped the movie, started it immediately again and could watch it normally. and also the timer showed the correct length: x:xx/1:49:37
Happens to me every maybe 20% of the time when I'm watching a movie. Never happens on TV shows for me. I guess I'll send a log and a sample next time it happens, didn't think to grab it before and it's been a week or two since it happened last.
This happens to me frequently with movies (I rarely watch TV shows), and they either start in the credits or near the end of the movie which has actually spoiled it a couple times... as it landed in some plot reveal scenes.
Yeah seen this a few times, including one amusing incident where my wife didn't realise and watched the last 15 minutes of an episode wondering why it made no sense...
Ditto.
Happens quite often.
We were delighted to watch the last 15 minutes or so of a SEASON FINAL and then were given the opportunity to go watch the first 30.
Talk about spoilers...
:*)
Its been happening to me, but only if I watch something that I havent transcoded yet.
Ive been ripping my blu-ray collection and then Transcoding using handbrake. After I transcode, this never happens, but if I play back the file as is from the disc it jumps randomly when starting playback.
Why are you transcoding your Bluray rips with Handbrake? Assuming you rip your Bluray with MakeMKV, you’ll be presented with a direct MKV file - no loss of quality - that the Xbox One can playback natively with the new Plex update (assuming your audio is Dolby Digital, otherwise the audio will be transcoded).
Seems like you’re adding an additional step…
