Xbox one plex stops playing after 30 minutes

Hello there,

First of all, i would like to thank you for this app! It is working beautifully so far and on top of that it looks good aswell!

My files are playing just fine with no stuttering or lag, but one thing is just happening while i don't have a clue why ..

My series play just fine throughout with no problems but all of my movies stop playing after +-30 minutes.. The thing

which is weird is that is also happening on my Apple tv ( Plexconnect ) but not on my iPad or iPhone. For the life of it

i cannot figure out why this is happening. My pc's specs are more then enough for this to be able to run smoothly,

i'm using a FX-8350 as CPU. Anyone has having these similar problems?

Thanks !

Please provide Plex Media Server logs when it happens.

Just a shot in the dark, but perhaps the PC host of your PMS is going to sleep? Make sure your PC is staying active and not going into sleep mode, turning off it's hard drives, etc.

i have this same issue,  not entirely exactly 30 min but running any movie..  almost all my rips are 10+GB   and run off a openmediavault.  PMS settings are off.  drives always spinning.   only happen on xbox, and xbox one.  I have a mac & pc, iPhone, iPad, and Amazon fire tv running the plex client without issue.   sometimes video would just freeze audio continues, or other times it would just kick back to plex dashboard.

Did you try to empty the cache of the Xbox One?

And how would this be done on the xbox 360?

Same problem here as well. Very annoying. Have tried everything from using a different router, to moving movies to a different HD, to clearing Xbox One cache ect...

Running on Windows 7. Screen just freezes, if I then back out pressing B, and select to resume, it plays fine again for about another half hour, repeat...

What I have noticed is that the transcode folder always gets to around just under 2 gig full when movies come to a sudden stop. I still have about 19 gig free on that drive though.

The folder obviously empties itself when I back out and then resume the film again, and it all plays fine until getting to just under 2 gig (ish). Could that somehow be related?

I'm experiencing exactly the same as the poster above me! Such a weird problem, seeing as my movie folders has several gb's of free space.

I was having this issue too, some port forwarding fixed it for me.

Force PMS through 32400

Static IP for PMS

PMS 32400-32400 UDP/TCP

xBone1 88-88 UDP

xBone2 3074-3074 UDP/TCP

xBone3 53-53 UDP/TCP

xBone4 80-80 TCP

xBone5 500-500 UDP

xBone6 3544-3544 UDP

xBone7 4500-4500 UDP

In this case are you setting a static IP for XB1 as well?  Assuming the references to xBone# above refer to ports you are forwarding for that specific IP

I am also seeing this issue but im not sure if its caused by a somewhat flaky internet connection since i'm using XB1 remotely or if its caused by the app itself.

I’ve got a similar issue, stops every 21 minutes. This happens with every movie only on xbox one.

Is there any fix yet for these issues that anybody knows of?

Thanks!

please provide Plex Media Server logs, as well as anybody who is still having this issue.

Updated software to the latest on 12/5, but Plex XBox One still stops frequetly with unknown error and "retry", "home" options. I have to reboot the server. Is that some kind of overflow issue? Server on iMac + Airport Extreme wifi with very fast speed.

I keep getting unknown error. (No problems with plex on ipad to apple tv)

Well, this is strange.

I have just bought another Xbox One for my sons Xmas. Plugged it up last night, and installed Plex as well.

There are NO problems with movies stopping at all. Watched two movies, one of which I know stops every 20-30 minutes on my own machine, and they both ran fine until the very end. That narrows the problem down to either some setting or some problem with my own Xbox.

The only thing I can think of its that I am in the preview programme? Anyone got any other ideas? Both  machines have the exact same wired connection as well.

I don't get any 'unknown error', video just freezes which requires me to stop, then press play again from menu screen, and resume from the same spot.

Will get through 20-30 mins into a movie and it comes up, then shorter increments, even as short as every 2 mins of freezing.  I wrote down the times as they happened to try and isolate in the log, here is an example:

Yes, I have this same issue.

I think my issues might stem to the fact I have a slow CPU server machine, intel G620. However all my other devices play great, although the transcode is probably of lesser quality on the Roku then my xbox one.

Whats funny is I have no issues with smaller files such as a TV show, just large ones such as movies.
