Playback starts at random time

Sometimes when I want to watch a series on Xbox One, it starts somewhere in the middle of the show around the 30 minute mark.

I never watched it before and didn't got the question if I wanted to start from the beginning or at the time it acually starts.

I have seen similair behavior. For me it was that I selected Play from beginning (a movie in these cases) and it actually started a couple of minutes before the end of the movie. I noticed at at these times if I monitor the server the transcoder keeps running also after I stop the movie. Starting the movie again does make it start from the beginning but now I have two transcoder processes running.

I have had this exact same issue.

I've seen the same behavior, resumes at a random point during the movie

+1 on this - started movie (that I've never watched via plex) and it was 5 mins from the end.

Same here. And stopping and starting again starts from the beginning

exact same thng happened to me as well. Seems to only happen for TV shows. Any ideas on fix?

Reporting much the same thing, seems to start at or around the 30:00 mark.

Please could you send us the parts of the Plex Media Server logs (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files) from around the time you started playback on the XB1? We can then look into what might be causing this.

Got the same behaviour. I watched two movies and both started near the end.

it's pretty much this:

Although I can't check if I have "two transcoder processes" running because I have no idea how to check that.

The transcoder processes may be ok - we don't necessarily close these off straight away.

If anyone has logs of when this happens, it would be a great help. Thanks!

+1. same issue here. I will try to attach a log.

I've only seen this once and I've been using the app quite a bit. If I get it to happen again I'll try to grab the logs.

I've also noticed that once in a awhile when you have a movie that is partially watched, it will start from the beginning and not ask if it should resume or start at beginning. Possibly related to this issue.

Same as above. I had this happen once on one file, it happened 3 times in a row, and then it started working again. I will get logs the next time it happens.

I've also seen this happen a few times now. Maybe 1 video out of 10. Feels like VHS all over again when someone has forgotten to rewind ;)

So I had it happen again. The beautiful thing is that I was able to get logs. It starts at the 20:26 part. For some reason it jumps right to 88.8 right off the bat from 0.1 and 0.2 progress on the transcoder. If it happens again, I will see if it goes right back to the 88.8. It's transcoding as I can see through Plex/Web and I can also see the Transcoder process in the logs. Like I said, this rarely happens, but hopefully logs can assist.. if it helps, this was an 480p AVI file (h264 with AAC). I will see if I can get it to happen again, and see if it's when something is transcoding vs. direct play.

Also, more information. This is my first time ever watching the movie, not sure if that helps. Also, I really think it has something to do with that 88.8 progress%. Just seems too random. From previous posts (and the last time it happened for me),  it was more than 4/5's done (hence the 88.8). It's hard to replicate, but I hope to have it happen again so I can provide more logs.
