Still can't delete media from within Player (Debian/Pi)

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058 [any!]
Player Version#: any device, iOS / TV / browser

Ok. my PMS is running on a Pi, all happy. but I have never been able to work out deleting files via the player. Local or remote, wont work. I have spent a couple hours with 15+ tabs open trying all sorts and can’t sort it. So I thought if I posted here, I might get some help to finally solve it.

user account: pi
ples runs as: plex

groups for both:

pi@myPi:~ $ groups pi
pi : pi adm dialout cdrom sudo audio video plugdev games users input netdev spi i2c gpio plex debian-transmission
pi@myPi:~ $ groups plex
plex : plex video render

pi owns all folders @ 755

pi@myPi:~ $ ls -al /media/pi/320/
total 132
drwxrwxr-x 5 pi pi 32768 Jan 1 1970 .
drwxrwxr-x+ 3 pi pi 4096 Sep 24 18:49 ..
drwxrwxr-x 23 pi pi 32768 Nov 29 22:48 Downloads
drwxrwxr-x 5 pi pi 32768 Aug 12 15:17 Exercise
drwxrwxr-x 9 pi pi 32768 Dec 7 08:45 TV

and files are 644 [truncated]

ls -al /media/pi/320/TV/any_file.mkv
total 3819136
drwxrwxr-x 2 pi pi 32768 Aug 12 19:18 .
drwxrwxr-x 4 pi pi 32768 Aug 12 19:18 ..
-rw-rw-r-- 1 pi pi 4096 Aug 12 19:20 'any_file.mkv'

so having shown my users & chmod so far, anyone care to help this Yorkshireman from his coupla of years of struggle deleting files when watched?

On another thread, someone suggested chmod -R 7666 /media/pi, and that makes sense to me, though at some point I’d like to use setacl to actually add plex into group permissions directly.
