I’m pretty new to Plex. I found all the naming guidlines but there are a few episodes I’m having issues with. Hopefully I can get some help!
I’m currently ripping all my Seinfeld DVD’s, and have figured out how to select DVD order etc. But a few of the Seinfeld episodes are ‘two part’ episodes.
Example is s05e19.
When ripping this episode, there is only one title to rip. It’s a 40-some minute episode instead of the normal 20 minutes. On thetvdb.com these episodes are listed as 19.1 and 19.2. So, how do I name my single file such that plex reads the tag info correctly from thetvdb.com? (Be sure to look at DVD order…not Aired order)
Or do I need to split the movie file? (I saw that in the how-to forum, but was kinda hoping it didn’t apply to this situation)
Thanks for any help you can offer!
You may as well forget about Seinfeld’s DVD Order and Plex.
- TVDB has locked Seinfeld down in that state - and
- Plex can’t use those episodes as they’re named.
- or something like that.
This is the easiest way - and the way ‘stacked’ episodes are named (because I have them too):
Unfortunately this reveals the bug wherein Plex mishandles stacked episodes. In short, the info is drawn correctly from TVDB and that one big episodes shows as two. When you play the first one, you’re actually playing both of them, of course, and Plex thinks you still need to watch the second one - that you’ve already watched.
So… you deal with it in one of two ways:
- you watch the first one (actually watching both of them), then you mark the second one as watched manually.
- you list S05E18 - then skip to S05E20 - and hand edit if your OCD kicks in.
Great! Thanks for the response. Kind of a bummer that the first DVD’s that I’m attempting to rip and get setup with plex cause such an issue. I guess it’s not always like this eh?
Anyway, I’ll give your naming scheme a try and see how well it behaves/how badly my OCD is triggered!
