What is with the Plex commercials on the news? I can’t even enjoy it anymore and so loved my Plex for all content. However the commercials almost outweigh the actual news content. And they repeat. I loved Plex because it didn’t monetize like Youtube disrupting my information with paid adds. It is becoming a propaganda tool to manipulate. What gives? Is there a way to turn off Plex commercials on news? Please help.

How do Plex ads pay for content that is normally free on the web? The ads I am referring to are the “Plex” ads advertising for itself on the “Free” web news media that is just injested from other channels. I am unclear on your response. I don’t think Plex pays itself for its own ad space.

Ok. I am done. I realize Plex has to make money. Unfortunately I am not willing to watch the same commercial every 1:30min to just to grab 30 min of news. It’s more than over the top. I am disabling the news and will get it elsewhere. I would like to hope I am not alone in this sentiment. The ad monetization model of the early days of analog TV doesn’t ring true with consumers today. I was hoping Plex would think outside the box. I was wrong.

You should not be seeing ads that often. That is definitely wrong. If you wouldn’t mind turning the feature back on to reproduce the issue then getting me the logs from what ever client you were using, I will take a look.

Kind of glad to hear I’m not the only one with this issue. I’ve disabled news and at this point will get it from the radio, in and out of, driving to work. I also disabled the TV streaming. It’s a brainwash technique to show something of interest for a few minutes and then repetitively recycle the same 4 commercials. a 40min program is already past 1hr 30min. i stopped watching and started downloading.

I gave up. News is out. It was awful experience. I had to turn the volume down so I wasn’t programmed by the same ad every couple minutes simply for a news byte. The Ad model has to be rethought. At this point Plex is out for my news. And by no stretch of the imagination would I EVER watch another FREE PLEX movie. lol. I would rather watch paint dry than be forced to consume the amount of ads they push down your throat.

Same here. What bugs me most (apart from the deafening volume increase): I am getting bombarded solely with advertisement about Plex. Being a plexpass user, this doesn‘t make any sense - you don‘t have to convince me anymore. Looks like in my country, they don‘t have any paying ad clients and therefore have only the ads about Plex. It really puts me off watching the news on Plex.
Yep, went to watch some news and got a Plex commercial. Why I need or anyone needs a Plex Commercial on Plex is besides me. Disabled news, I’ll get my news elsewhere. There should be a way to admin this from our server to stop Pass users from getting those commercials. Until that happens, I have turned it off.
