Why the hell there are ads on Plex News ?

It is a service dedicated to paying subscribers like me and every bloody minute you put an advertisment ? You really have no shame or what ? We pay every month and we have to deal with stupid ads ?

Already the news selection is very poor and from some unknown weird “news” agencies and despite the fact that we pay we have to be harassed with ads ?

Get a bloody grip Plex !

No. It is available to each Plex user. Subscriber or not.

I want the super bowl without the ads! Wtf that is not possible?!?!
Just teasing…

IMO: if you’re a paying customers, you should’t be harrassed with ads.

If what you’re paying is not enough to fund a new feature, you have these possibilities:

  • do without the new feature
  • pay more
  • tolerate ads

Plex decided, instead of rising the monthly fee, to go with ads.
Simple as that.

If you absolutely cannot stand ads, disable the new online media sources.

Wondering how the Remove Commercials feature of the Plex DVR fits in this context ? Are we supposed to expect that since Plex adds a feature to remove commercials in its DVR they have the right to add to sources they provide - don’t you think its a weird conundrum. I mean I would be rather upset if Adblock removed ads from pages just to show their own ads at other places. The Plex news is not live so I can understand some users grievance about it.

I don’t want to sound pessimistic but before a new feature is to be developed I think the developers need to think about the 3 options you have listed and then discuss if this feature really makes sense to develop if in the end these are the options that will be given to the users. You do realize if most users end up disabling it and only a small fraction use it, its a lose situation for both Plex as well as its users.
