Store Two Versions of Music Album

Is it possible to store two versions of an Music Album in Plex… A FLAC version for streaming, and an MP3 version for in the car or a personal MP3 player… But I would only like the FLAC version indexing on the server, the MP3 one would be “hidden”.

Any help would be greatly appreciated…

No. Even the weakest Plex server is supposed to be fast enough to transcode from flac down to AAC or OGG in realtime. So there is no need for the mp3 version.

Thanks for the swift response, but it’s not really what I was asking… I probably didn’t make myself clear…

I’d like to stream HD music (e.g. FLAC), but if I choose to download the music to a device for playing on the go (i.e. non-streaming) I’d like to pull MP3 files. It’s not an issue of transcoding…

The Plex mobile apps and Plexamp do the conversion automatically, when you download music for offline playing. You just need to define a quality restriction.
And they use the superior Opus codec for that.
