Stream music from Android

I just discovered Today that Rasplex supports airplay, which is awesome! Streamed music from my mac and didn't get a single dropout.

However, I'm wondering what's a common way to stream music from my Android phone now? If I got a bluetooth adapter, would I be able to stream to rasplex? What apps work with this. It'd be nice if I could use the Chromecast protocol to do this, so I could stream Google Music to it. Thoughts?

you shouldnt need any other software than the android Plex client to be able to stream music to RPi :)

just select RPi as a target in you client .. and voila .. :)

Well, how do I stream the music on my phone (i.e. in Google Music or whatnot) to the RPi?

Sounds like you want an Android alternative of Airplay. You can google that, there are a bunch of 3rd party options but usually extra bolt ons that typically require additional server/client installations.

Not sure if this will work, but it's worth a shot...

Bubblesoft makes an app called "Cast To UPnP/DLNA for GMusic".  The app itself emulates a chromecast so google music 'casts' to it.  It then takes the stream and passes the 'cast' to a UPNP/DLNA player.

I remember seeing an option for DLNA in rasplex, so this may be just what you want.

I'd test it out, but I'm not at home right now.  The app costs $, but there's a free-to-try version.  Honestly, not sure if it will work -- but hey it's worth a shot
