After the premier of Season 4 of the Grand Tour this week, i wanted to rewatch the old season.
I seem to be having issues with certain episodes, and i’m unsure if it;s the encoding, the file size, or something else.
The problem presents itself as a buffering issue - it will play 2 - 5 seconds, then pause, then continue, then pause, etc, as you can see here - https://i.imgur.com/F6KLmaW.mp4
This is not only the Chromecast, it happens on my mobile phone on the same network in the same room, suggesting network speed, however the previous and following episodes from my library played with no problem, today it just seemed to be Episode 4. The file sizes for reference:
Ep 3 - 6.8gb
Ep 4 - 6.7gb
Ep 5 - 7.1gb
What was strange though, is on both ep’s 3 & 4, i could go to playback settings, change the quality to something lower (like 2 or 4mbit), and it would lock that in, and continue playing. For this particular episode though, it seemed to make no difference - it still looked like 1080 on the TV, and the app didnt recognized my format changes, as you can see from this screencapture I performed whilst it continually tried to change it - https://i.imgur.com/89k52ed.mp4
Looking for guidance on what I can do to resolve this - I understand it could be a wifi speed problem, although it never, ever seems to happen with Netflix - only plex, so hoping the logs will indicate what the issue is, and what I can do to fix it.
