First of I want to say I love this software. Now my problem, I use to be able to stream my high bitrate videos (20mbs+) to my xbox and it would direct play them with no problems. With the latest version of the server it seems it is trying to transcode these videos causing major stuttering and pretty much making these videos unwatchable. I can’t seem to find an option to get this working again. Anyone else experiencing this or know of a solution?
How local bitrate you have in settings page? Try set here 20Mb
I have my local Settings set to the highest, 20mb, and I have direct play enabled. These videos are above 20mb, maybe thats why they transcode?.....
I had been using an older version of plex when it was working and it stopped working once I got the newsest version, I can see in the changelog for plex mediaserver 0.9.6.6:
FIX: High bitrate content will correctly transcode instead of attempting Direct Play (thanks, majortom!)
Maybe this is why it wont work anymore?
You have right. Plex team fix thinks, but better way is make chcekbox menu on control web and here set transcoding override manualy.
I mean DLNA dont transcode try it or downgrade this time.
You can too create user dlna profile. See FAQ
I managed to edit my profile and get it working again, thanks for the help. Really hope they add the option to the settings in the future.
any chance you could explain what you edited and how you changed it, im sure there are plenty of people that wouldnt mind knowing how you got this working!
+1
There are at least a couple! :)
would also like to know what you did.
Sorry for the late response,
My problem was getting my high bitrate wmv to play again on my xbox 360.
To fix it I read this:
http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/42523-writing-profiles-for-dlna-devices/
Basically had to edit my dlnaclientprofiles.xml to increase the limit.
I went here: C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Plex Media Server\dlnaclientprofiles.xml
right clicked and edited that file.
My problem was with the max resolution on vc1 codec on the xbox 360
So I scrolled down to the xbox 360 profile, found the vc1 resoluion limit line and increased it.
Hope that helps.
