I’ve installed a network bandwidth monitor on one of my devices and noticed that when streaming content from my library, it will buffer at 10MB/s (not megabits) and be ready almost instantly both on 3g and remote wifi (from another location). When using the Live TV, the download from the server is like 128KB/s which is not fast enough to stream consistently. Lowering the quality also lowers the download speed. The transcoder and CPU is more than enough to stream 20mbps quality video. Once a live TV program has been recorded, it will again stream this at 10MB+ speeds without error however you’d have to wait for the program to complete before you can start watching it…
To summarize,
Fast internet client & server
Local WIFI = no issue
3G/4G = can’t stream fast enough (speed test shows 50mbps+ on client)
Remote Wifi 100mbps+ = can’t stream.
Something in the application is not allowing for faster streaming when live… I’m using android plex app and win 7 plex media server 1.13.0.5023
