Oh, I understand what the video modes are. One of my local OTA TV channels used to broadcast in a horizontally compressed, near 1:1 aspect ratio. So I used the “Stretch” display mode to correct it and pull it back out to the near-4:3 it should have been (old SG-1 episodes). I only needed it to play back recordings from that single channel, but I did find the feature useful. The station has since corrected their broadcasts so I don’t need to resort to aspect ratio correction any longer.
And in my other post I pointed out that they’ve implemented the same four display modes available in the legacy Android app in the new mobile app (version 2025.13.0. Given that the new apps share a common codebase it seems highly likely that these modes will make it to iOS and Apple TV in time as well. That was one of the primary drivers for Plex creating the new apps: A consistent user experience across the various platforms..
So, based on the note in the announcement and the implementation in Android mobile, I think you may end up getting your wish. Call me an optimist.
