old thread, but I’ve the same issue.
I’m playing some old TV shows to my Chromecast and they are always displayed as 4:3. I can’t modify this from my TV, I always get those black bar on the sides. If I play the same files with Kodi, they works fine (I use the option “16:9 non-linear”).
Is there something similar for Plex?
If Plex ever decides to help you guys perform Aspect Ratio Murder and does as Plex history indicates - force that feature without any way to turn it on or off…

Sorry to bump this thread but I need this feature again. Does anyone know how to turn this feature back on? It used to be in settings where it would automatically zoom for you. That option has apparently been lost to time and many updates. Is there a way to do this still but just hidden somewhere else?
