Ever been watching an older movie or show thats still in 4:3 aspect ratio that is still in a box in the middle of the screen? what if there was an option in plex to “fit to screen” or “make 16x9” you know what i mean, turn that old 4:3 video into a nice video that fits the entire 16x9 screen.
Now I am not sure if its possible or not to do, but it can’t be that hard to figure out, I mean people can watch Hulu on the Moon now. This would be great as I have several older shows I digitized way back whenever that are still in 4:3 and would love to watch them full screen.
Which clients are you talking about?
Every TV I know of has this. Use your tv’s remote to activate the ‘Zoom mode’ (sometimes the button is labeled ‘Aspect’)
Late reply, been raining a ton here and power outages.
This is in the program already ? can it be used on pc ? i have yet to find it. TV’s don’t have an auto fit to screen option, not that I know of, you have to manually go and find a setting that somehow doesn’t mess up the picture to bad. The zoom function on TVs doesn’t work as well as your thinking, it may zoom and cut off half the screen on most tvs.
My pc is connected to a 42 inch tv, it has live zoom which works ONLY if your using the DLNA service, it also has 360 degree mode, which was weird, also allows me to take screenshots of shows while watching them, but again none of that is in the plex app it self that I know of, not on PC, console, phone, tablet or w/e else there is.
Plex allows us to convert the video stream from original quality to a lower quality which is cool, but an option to stretch 4:3 to 16:9 would be great for those of us who aren’t 15 a nd still have older shows that were in 4:3 ratio.
you could use the kodi plug-in to do anything to the video. zoom, stretch.
