Struggling to get reasonable video stream on AndroidTV Media Box/

I’m struggling to get something approaching reasonable video streaming on an MBox Android TV box (6G/64G RAM), hard wired gigabit ethernet. I have exhausted online advice, including that offered by Plex.

The PMS is a 'nix box on AMD A12 CPU/GPU with 16G RAM.

RELAY is OFF. I tried transcoding disabled but that made no difference. Videos using the Plex player stutter and chug along to point that they are unwatchable.

As a comparison on the same device Kodi and VLC play videos at 4K without issue.

Given that I now seem to be “clutching at straws” is there anything else I could try to improve Plex’s poor performance?
