Stuck with XML .nfo Scraping

I have an extensive movie library, of concert videos (some very rare). Because the scraper is often wrong when locating information and covers for these films, I’d like to disable the scraper entirely and use .nfo files. Over the years I’ve had other digital libraries (music), and I sort of prefer the hobbyist side of setting up my own information.

The Plex web client is v. 3.77.4. (Server is Version 1.14.1.5488.) My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate (Service Pack 1). I know its old, but the computer has worked fine and its what I have as a server. My videos are all stored on a USB 4 TB hard drive, and stored separately. (E.g., M:\Music Video\Santana.with.Stevie.Ray.Vaughan.Costa.Mesa(1988)\cover.jpg; fanart.jpg, etc.)

I know that I can log into Plex and edit the attributes, such as name, and select my own cover and fanart. But that just resets the next time the scraper runs. So, I’d like to disable the scraper entirely (or make it subpordinate to an .nfo file), so that I can manually control the attributes in this library.

I have read about this extensively, and cannot get this to work. My settings are on:

Settings>Agents>Movies>Personal Media>
-Local Media Assets (Movies) is at the top of the list and checked.
-Personal Media is second in the list and the check is grey so can’t be undone.

Settings>Agents>Movies>Personal Media>
-XBMCnfoMoviesImporter is at the top of the list and is checked.
-Local Media Assets (Movies) is second on the list and checked.
-Personal Media is third in the list and the check is grey so can’t be undone.
-Fanart.tv, CineMaterial and OpenSubtitltes are next and not checked.

Settings>Agents>Movies>The Movie Database>
-XBMCnfoMoviesImporter is at the top of the list and is checked.
-Personal Media is second in the list and the check is grey so can’t be undone.
-Fanart.tv, CineMaterial and OpenSubtitltes are next and not checked.

Settings>Agents>Movies>XBMCnfoMoviesImporter>
-XBMCnfoMoviesImporter is at the top of the list and is checked but is grey and can’t be unchecked.
-Local Media Assets (Movies) is second on the list and checked.
-OpenSubtitles is next and not checked.

I have tried to install the XBMCnfoMoviesImporter bundle as follows:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\XBMCnfoMoviesImporter.bundle
c:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Plug-ins-cc260c476\XBMCnfoMoviesImporter.bundle

But, for certain titles, such as the example above, it isn’t finding anything. So I attempted to include an .nfo file, and that doesn’t work. Here are the specifics on this particular example:

Path:

m:\Music Video\Santana.with.Stevie.Ray.Vaughan.Costa.Mesa(1988)\VIDEO_TS.IFO (video path, with all vob files)
m:\Music Video\Santana.with.Stevie.Ray.Vaughan.Costa.Mesa(1988)\cover.jpg (cover file)
m:\Music Video\Santana.with.Stevie.Ray.Vaughan.Costa.Mesa(1988)\fanart.jpg (fanart)
m:\Music Video\Santana.with.Stevie.Ray.Vaughan.Costa.Mesa(1988)\VIDEO_TS.nfo (attempt at .nfo file)

The XML code within the VIDEO_TS.nfo file is:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?> Santana & SRV (1988) M:\Music VideoS\Santana.with.Stevie.Ray.Vaughan.Costa.Mesa(1988)\fanart.jpg M:\Music Videos\Santana.with.Stevie.Ray.Vaughan.Costa.Mesa(1988)\cover.jpg

[EDIT: The forum browser is condensing the XML Code so it doesn’t display exactly as I typed it in.]

I have completed the “Plex Dance” by moving the video files, restarting plex, cleaning bundles, emptying the trash and rebooting plex.

When I re-scan the titles in my “Music Films” library, it scrapes most of the titles (not sure what scraper is operating), and puts cover art and info. Its about 80% accurate, but completely inaccurate with rare videos.

It is NOT picking up the .nfo information at all. Thoughts?

Both are the wrong places.

It belongs into the Plex data folder.
See https://support.plex.tv/articles/201187656-how-do-i-manually-install-a-plugin/

VIDEO_TS or BDMV folders or ISOs are not supported in Plex.

Ok, thanks. I will attempt to correctly install the plug-in, and then try this with an .mkv.

Update: I am still attempting to get the plug in to work. I have now discovered for some reason that when I put this plugin “XBMCnfoMoviesimporter.bundle” folder into the correct plug-ins folder, it disappears every time I reboot Plex. I have stared directly at the folder. The only subfolder there is services.bundle. I’ll copy in the new plug in folder, and when I close plex, then restart, during the plex startup, XBMCnfoMoviesimporter.bundle just disappears. Rebooting the computer, or changing the “disable capability checking” option does not help.

Please quote which folder you have used.

c:\Users\Studio\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\

The computer is named Studio. This is also I’ve found the same folder that opens when I right-click and go to “open plug-ins folder.”

[EDIT] Update. I wasn’t using other plug-ins, so installed some as a test. I’ve now installed the Web Tools plugin just fine, and rebooted Plex. Web Tools stays installed. I used Web Tools to install another plug in: spotify. That stays in place. I then used Web Tools to install the XBMCnfoMoviesImporter plugin, and as before, after rebooting Plex, that bundle vanished from the plug-ins directory. So it must be something with that plugin.

I can’t confirm this behaviour.
Which Anti virus software are you using?
Have you told it to stay out of the Plex data folder?
I recommend it urgently.

You can try my copy of the nfo plugins: nfo_importers.zip (72.5 KB)

Thanks for the suggestions. I added an exception to AVG, and also tried it with AVG disabled. Same behavior. Also same behavior with your copy of the nfo importer plug-in. Thanks for all your help. I may consider upgrading to a newer operating system.
