Stuttering on multiple clients

I’m been using Plex since 2011, I had clients on pretty much all devices possible and I had problems that either I solved either wer bugs and solved by the team.

My server is abroad in another country and bandwidth between home and the server is around 250Mbps.

Todays problem is that direct play behave differently on my client devices. As an exampel I’ve chosen a movie which has 18.8Mbps

Downloading a movie remotely using the download link provided on the web interface get’s the speed of 80Mbps/s.

Direct playing the same movie using Plex Web App gets 50Mbps

Playing the movie on my Shiled (using different Plex app version) get’s a maximum of 10Mbps and of course the playback stutters. Transcode seems to work a little bit better on these devices but there it still a lot of stuttering

Playing the movie on my 2nd generation FireTV gets the same problem as my Shield.
My Iphone get’s pretty much the same behaviour.

The only solutions that work are the windows app and web app.

Is there a difference on how the cache is used on different clients, is this related to the operating system of the device itself and plex has nothing to do with this M

All devices are connected on cable. Network setup is high end, cisco enterprise swithches.

The problesm was solved, and in fact the ethernet cable was disconnected. The Shield falled back to wifi connection.

What I’ve learned when testing with a 4K movie having a pretty much constant bitrate of 38mbps:

Wireless 300mbps playback was stuttering, router at aroud 10 feets away (3-4m).
Even when connected in 100mbps playback was stuttering. This was the strangest part, even movies with 15mbps stuttered under a 100mbps connection.

Using Gbit connection fixed all issues.
