Trouble with adding TV Shows folder but no problem adding the Movies folders

Hello everybody,
I am trying to set up my Plex server and the setup is as follows:
I have a Asus NAS box (AS5304T) with both a TV Shows folder and two Movies folders and the Plex Server is setup on my desktop.
I have no trouble adding the two Movies folders and they update and display all the movies that are in the folders. I also have a TV Shows folder on the same NAS, under the same drive letter (A:) but when I try to add that folder the server doesn’t display the contents of the folder.

Do you know what the problem might be and how I could fix it?

Warm regards,
H.

File names and folder organization?

The TV Shows folder is named TV Shows and then there are sub folders with the names of the TV Shows e.g. Chicago P.D.

File names?

Which folder did you add to the tv shows library?
Did you select the type of the library to be “tv shows” when you created it?

Yes, I chose “add tv shows” for the tv shows and when I added the two movies folders I chose add movies

I can already see the issue.

/ TV Shows
   / Show Title
      / Season 01
         Show Title - s01e01 - optional text.ext
         Show Title - s01e02 - optional text.ext
         Show Title - s01e03 - optional text.ext
         ...

I’m sorry Otto, I don’t follow…

You have added the “Season” folders directly into the “TV Shows” folder.
This doesn’t work.
You need to have one folder with the title of the show, then inside that a folder for each season.
And inside each season folder you put the video files of the episodes of that season.

Ah okay, so just to be clear:
First I say (e.g.) Altered Carbon, then within that folders: Season 1 & Season 2 and within those folders the episodes?

Precisely. Please follow the link above to the official documentation for more examples.

Thank you kindly Otto. Your help is really appreciated

Warm regards from frosty Iceland.

Make sure you don’t use extra subfolders for every episode.

I think I understand:
Altered Carbon ➔ Altered Carbon Season 1 ➔ Altered Carbon S01E01. Right?

Make that
Altered Carbon ➔ Season 01 ➔ Altered Carbon S01E01

Got it, thank you!

Damn it, I still don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. I made a “test folder” to try to see if I was doing this right but I still get the “there are no items in library”

You are doing precisely what I told you to avoid: You have subfolders for every episode. Don’t.

Also, if you want to test with a limited number of shows, you cannot point the library to just the folders of these shows. Because then the folder structure would be incomplete.
