I use MCEBuddy to encode TV shows for viewing through a Roku 3. I have a folder labelled MCE Buddy with sub-folders for individual series. Lately, Plex is displaying all the individual recording without regard to series. It is almost impossible to tell what the series is without actually playing the file.

Up to about a week ago, Plex displayed the series and clicking the series thumbnail displayed the individual episodes.

I’m not sure if I screwed something up or a Plex update screwed it up.

Can someone suggest what I need to do to get PLEX to again display the sub-folders? What I want is MCEBuddy/series/episodes.

you should go for this instead:

while Plex tends to be forgiving with file names for movies, it’s much more strict when it comes to tv shows. you should always go the full way:
tv shows root folder > tv show name (year) > Season XX > tv show name (year) - sXXeYY - optional episode title.ext

with XX as the 2-digit season number, YY as the episode number and .ext as the actual file extension.
including the year is not required but helps to avoid matching mishaps.

I found the problem. I moved Plex to a different server and when I set up my library I selected the wrong option for TV.

I’ve corrected the mistake and everything is fine in Wayne’s World again.
