Subject: How to Sort Movie Titles Alphabetically in Collections on Plex Windows App?

Hello Plex Community,

I’m using the latest version of the Plex Windows desktop app as of December 15th, 2023, and I’ve hit a snag I can’t seem to solve. I’ve scoured Reddit, this community, and even checked the iPad, Android, and Web App, but haven’t found an answer, so I’m turning to you for help.

I’m creating collections in the movies section and want to sort movie titles alphabetically within these collections. Currently, every new movie I add to a collection (e.g., Christmas) gets placed at the bottom of the list. Unlike in other sections (movies, TV, etc.) where I can sort by title, genre, release date, etc., I can’t find a similar option for collections. This isn’t about playlists; it’s specifically about “collections”. I’m unable to find any sort functionality within collections, apart from manually dragging and dropping, which is quite cumbersome.

As a longtime Plex premium user with a lifetime subscription, this issue is increasingly frustrating. If anyone has a solution or can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, and Merry Christmas to all!

In the collection, go to advanced, and then collection order.

Thanks for the reply but where exactly are you referring to? When I’m in Collections…there aren’t any options available to sort. I’ve also looked in the SETTINGS area as well and find NOTHING for COLECTIONS. Please see the screen grabs that I’ve attached…AM I BLIND??? Am I missing something???

Click the pencil icon (directly to the left of the 3 ellipses in your “Christmas Collection” screenshot) to enter the collection settings. In the collection settings windows, click “Advanced” in the left menu and then on the right side, change the “Collection order” setting.

There is no universal setting, so this needs to be done on each individual collection that you create where you want them sorted by title.

Thanks again. I dug around some more and FINALLY FOUND THIS. For anyone that comes behind me on this, I’ve done a couple screen grabs for your reference in case someone else has trouble finding this as well. Hope this helps!!
