On iPad, Plex ignores iOS Accessibility subtitle styling options, resetting all the subtitle styling back to the tiny, illegible defaults. This happens each time playback pauses and resumes.
As a workaround, I have to relaunch the iPad Plex app.
Filed away more longterm subtitles improvements in another thread. Focusing on this frustrating glitch for now.
I’ve experienced multiple times the styling becoming closed captioning where it’s the black bar background and white text.
It usually triggers with a .srt local file and while the movie is playing have your local subtitles rendering and then search for new subtitles, select one, let it load, then switch back to my local srt file. A lot of times it will become closed caption styling.
Quitting the app when this happens works and reopening fixes it.
