I had my IPS provide a software bridge on their router so I could eliminate a double-NAT problem. Could that be it?

If your ISPs router is bridged, it means that you are using your own router.
And that in turn means that all your devices must be plugged into the LAN ports of this router. And no device must be plugged into the LAN ports of your ISP’s router. (except one: your own router)

I think my set up is OK. I am going to try playing some media files under MKV and MP4 formats to see if there is any effect on the subtitle display. I will let you know how this turns out. Thanks again!
