Subtitle issues with multiple versions

When playing 4k HDR media, the subtitles don’t show initially even if selected. To have the subtitles show, during playback i have to change to none/other language then back to the language i want, on 1080p content it’s fine. Subtitles are SRT external files. Seems to be android app related (Shield TV and Android Phone). On the windows plex app it doesn’t happen. On XPlay android app it doesn’t happen. media is played back with direct play.
