I'm pretty sure new interface broke subtitle playback on android

Like it says.
The subtitle just stopped working on android for me.
I’m sure you will fix it but man… as someone who almost exclusive use plex for foreign media, this is a big inconvenience.

Which version number are you on? Server and Player. What sort of subtitles do you have? SRT, PGS etc. Internal/External? I could not reproduce in the few I just tried with subtitles.

2025.15.0 (966828394) is client version. platform version 14. Device model SM-A546U1
Just updated the server to Version 1.41.6.9685. Ongoing problem.
It’s mkv file with internal subtitle. ASS format
on “media info” for the file it reads as follows.

Codec ASS
Language English
Language Tag en
Title English subs
Display Title English (ASS)
Extended Display Title English subs (ASS)

It does seem to be ASS format subs on Android with issue. I could reproduce with those.

Looks like this may be fixed in upcoming 2025.16 but I don’t have an ETA when it will be released.

For what it’s worth, none of the fixes I found thus far fix this issue for the Google pixel tablet. I was able to roll back to 10.26 on my pixel 7 but on my tablet it tells me the package is invalid (arm64 v8a)

I have no idea why this is but as someone with cognitive decline whose whole life revolves around their media server, this seems like a really poorly rolled out update without any kind of AB opt-in. I was a software developer back before I got long covid so I understand we can’t always foresee problems but subtitles not working is a pretty big issue.

I realize that dei isn’t important anymore to most tech companies (unfortunately) but accessibility is still right?

I was faced with same “invalid” issue. Did you uninstall the Plex before side loading older version? Just in case you had the same problem I did.
