I have two versions of a movie; one is 1080p and another 4K. Both the movies and subtitles are in different locations/folders.
I’ve added both folders in a single library so that the two versions will be combined and that works perfectly.
However, since august i have issues with subs. Although the sub is preselected it doesn’t work. I need to manual disable subs and re-enable the sub again to make it work within a movie.
This problem occurs only on Android tv and android phone. It seems to work fine with a webbrowser and LG plex client and Samsung client.
The only way to make it work on Android tv or android plex client is by selecting versions and then manual choice 1080p or 4k version.
Or when i remove one version (1080p or 4k) subs works immediately.
Does anyone know how to solve this? If have tried the latest public and beta version of plex server and public and beta versions of the clients, but same problem.
Yeah i have tested it with basically all Android devices: android phone, android tv, android tablet and google tv. But im not sure what causing it. All non android clients such as iphone, samsung and lg clients seems to work just fine.
So if it’s started in August… where is the solution I’ve removed all 4k content so that my users wont get frustrated… but still, would love to have a real fix.
Reading through this, I realize that I too had this. I then recalled that I turned off Convert Automatically on on CCwGTV and it stopped.
But I am seeing plex decide to do some odd things with Subs when using the Android client. Like Burning SRT subs when the TV doesn’t support HDR but the Device doing the actual streaming does. Not sure if they are related but I started this thread about it 4K HDR Transcoding on 1080 TV - Plex Players - Plex Forum
