I’m running Truenas Community version 25.04.2.6 and upgraded to PMS 1.43.0.10467, docker v1.2.24 and experienced subtitle sync issues with several tv show episodes. Subtitles were lagging about 8-10 seconds. I rolled back to PMS version 1.42.2.10156, docker v1.2.23 and all is well with subtitles. If I need to create a new post, please let me know.
FYI- I’m not new to viewing forum posts, but new at participating. Looks like I may have earned ‘Basic’
I am also observing an issue with out of sync subs that started after the latest PMS update. It happens under certain conditions only and I can recreate the issue across 2 identical clients (rokus streaming stick 4k). Seems to be related to PMS (same version noted in this thread, but on windows) deciding to convert SRT to WEBVTT, which tbh I can’t imagine WHY it’s doing that in the first place. The media’s subs are in sync and play normally (direct play) in other plex clients, such as web and ios. So perhaps its the container PMS creates when its transcoding audio to things like AC3 and ACC 2 channel (which are the conditions that trigger that sub conversation that makes the out of sync subs manifest).
Given what this post describes, I am gonna try rolling back the 1.43.0.10467 update to the previous version and see if that resolves the issue, as needing to choose “always” burn in subs is not ideal. Given this latest update includes a new ffmpeg version, I suspect this PMS update is the likely culprit. Will update if the rollback is successful.
Reinstalled PMS version 1,43.0.10467, (Truenas docker container app v1.2.24) and recreated subtitle sync issue. Contrary to my original post, the subtitles are ‘advance’ by around 8 seconds to that of audio. Play device is Roku Ultra. Attached is log file and let me know if you need anything else.
Ah. well, I’m fine with google drive. Should I post it here, send it to an email address or use some form of DM on this forum? I’ll collect that info and file and send it over at the earliest chance I get this week. ty for replying.
Plex and Roku need to get their act together. I have had nothing but sync problems with subtitles since I have installed Plex. Using Plex app in Roku is a subtitle disaster. Whats interesting is, if I use the Samsung TV Plex app, the subtitles are perfectly in sync.
Chris, I would be glad to assist, but unfortunately, my level of app installation knowledge for Truenas Community (Linux & Docker contaniers) does not extend beyond the normal Truenas, “Application Discover” within the GUI. . Moving forward, I plan to broaden my education.
