Hi,
I am tired that on plex I see 50+ types of subtiles sometimes that are embedded into my media, in formats that I already know I don’t want to use (because plex then complains that my server is not too powerful eventhough it is…), and in languages that I don’t even understand.
So here is what I’d suggest:
A) Under Settings/Languages, add a list "Show subtitles in" where user can add languages in which they want to see subtitles. All other languages are filtered out. Currently, there already a setting that says in which language I prefer subs. That’s great. But I want more: I want that I can define exactly which languages I want to see, and the rest I don’t even want to see as a selection option.
B) Under Settings/Languages, add a list “Show subtitle formats” where user can select “SRT”, “ASS”, “VOSUB” and whatever else exists. Only subs in the formats on that list are shown, the rest is not shown.
Example how this would play out:
If I have a media that has:
- ASS subs in English, French, and Japanese
- SRT subs in English, German
and my settings are:
- Show only “SRT” and
- Show only subs in “German” or “French”,
then I would only see the SRT subs in German from above movie or TV show.
Scope:
This should take effect on all my devices (appleTV, plex app on iOS, plex Web, etc).
