Hi, sLumpy any news about this issue? It’s been a month since your last message.

Still broken with the latest version from 2 days ago.

I just found out this discussion, most likely the issues in this topic are related to this problem:

As I’ve stated in that topic, whenever subtitles are enabled, playback either fails instantly, or it just stops after a couple of minutes.
I still don’t know whether it’s normal that the subtitle track gets ā€œDirect-Streamā€ while Video and Audio are Direct-Play.

Also my files just have at most 4 or 5 subtitle tracks, so in my case it doesn’t look like it’s related to how many tracks are available in mkv.

I also notice this happens on LG TVs, (Direct Play video/audio + Direct-Stream subtitles), except there’s no error in playback, files seem to play fine.

I kinda gave up, this issue is almost a year old, with almost no answers from the devs.

I’m in the same place. I don’t have high hopes that this bug will be fixed so that Plex will work the way it did before the onset of the issue I’ve experienced.

This occurred to me after sLumpy was able to replicate the issue with files that had 33 or more total streams and posted this:

I hope I don’t sound ungrateful, I truly appreciate sLumpy working with us to confirm the issue that we’re experiencing is repeatable and precisely at how many streams it begins to manifest, but the tone of that post seemed to suggest the solution is to remux our files to make them play correctly with no mention of the potential that Plex may be restored to its previously functionality or that any more time was going to be spent on it, unless users could supply data of issues playing files with less than 30 total streams.

So for now, I have no expectation of the situation changing, so I will carry on remuxing my media to remove unnecessary subs/streams, unless a surprise fix is deployed.

New update, still not a single word on this issue, which is core functionality.

Version : 5.64.1
Platforms : Samsung 2016 to 2022 Televisions (Tizen 2.4, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5)

NEW:

  • Show post play screen when final Skip Credits marker is invoked

FIXED:

  • [Live TV] Fixed issue where it sometimes wasn’t possible to move focus into a different guide row after scrolling

Any news on this? I’ve sent a bunch of logs but no reply yet.

No news at all, I still don’t understand how something as core as being able to play media properly and use subtitles is not fixed for almost a year?

There’s even pro users with this issue too.

New version, still nothing

Version : 5.65.2
Platforms : Samsung 2016 to 2022 Televisions (Tizen 2.4, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5)

  • [Discover Together] Hide share button for videos that are unmatched

Keeping the post alive, so it doesn’t go away

me 2, still a fat problemo

Still persisting. Hope this thread will stay alive

Any news?

Hello, again, any news at all?

Nice to see new features such as profiles and Watch history, but still can’t use the subtitles.

Another month goes by, still nothing.

Happy new Year, still waiting on a fix.

u2. no ffing fix…

I’ve not encountered the issue anymore. Maybe I’ve found the right configuration options that prevent it from happening, or maybe it’s just luck.

I did a couple of changes though. Since the gsuite collapse I had to move everything to bare metal. Now I stream everything from a local NAS with a very low latency. Also the PMS version has been bumped to 1.31.1.6733.

Would be great if someone can record the screen while the issue is happening so we know we are talking about the same thing. I have my own recordings.
